Can you install one traffic sign and save two-million dollars?

Fifty percent of traffic accidents happen at intersections. Gary Lauder shares a brilliant and cheap idea for helping drivers move along smoothly: a new traffic sign that combines the properties of “Stop” and “Yield” — and asks drivers to be polite.

    Native Californians see nearly all stop signs similarly to the hybrid except the text reads “MY TURN!”

      You’re absolutely right. They might also be confused how to take “turns” on a straightaway. They are a very literal people, those Californians. Since the sign reads “take turns” – the entire population could be lost driving in circles, taking every turn the come upon. Sad really.

    What a great talk! In NJ they have “zipper merge” signs, which I wish people would use in CA. People just don’t seem to get that whole taking turns concept
